The Brecon Town Centre Historic Building Grant is being made available to owners of commercial buildings within the centre of the market town. If successful, applicants could see the National Park Authority provide financial assistance of up to £6,000 to help fund the costs of a restoration project for buildings qualifying for the scheme.
Although domestic buildings aren’t eligible for funding, flats above shops in the centre of Brecon could be considered.
Owners of suitable properties are now being urged to get in touch with the National Park Authority as the work will need to be completed by March 30th 2014 to qualify for funding. Buildings do not have be listed to qualify for the scheme.
Rosie Burton, Senior Heritage Officer (Buildings Conservation) for Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority explained: “The Brecon Town Centre Historic Building Grant provides a good opportunity for property owners to get financial support to restore their commercial buildings back to their former glory.
“The grant can provide grant aid for work ranging from reroofing to new signage, so I would encourage owners of qualifying buildings in Brecon town centre to get in touch.”
Martin Buckle, Member Champion for Heritage for Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority, added: “The National Park Authority’s management plan recognises the importance of our historic and cultural heritage, and this grant will provide real financial support to anyone restoring a historic commercial building in the centre of Brecon.”
