The Black Mountain Festival – is an exciting new event is taking place this Saturday 5th July from 10am to 4pm at Herbert’s Quarry, on the A4069 near Brynamman and organisers are hopeful that if the event is a success it may become an annual fixture on the Herbert’s Quarry calendar.
The Black Mountain Festival takes place in and around Herbert’s Quarry, amid the industrial landscapes of the Black Mountains, with spectacular views across the valleys below.
Join Dyfed Archaeological Trust and Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority for a summer fayre with a difference. Along with music by Julie Murphy and Ceri Rhys Matthews of Fernhill folk band there will be a range of demonstrations, hands on activities and crafts including glass making, soap making, blacksmithery, leather working and much much more.
There will also be an opportunity to discover how archaeologists uncover the past on a visit to the community excavation of two limekilns at nearby Brest Cwym Llwyd. A shuttle bus will be available from the car parks on the A4069.
So bring your family, friends and a picnic to enjoy this interesting and varied celebration of archaeology and local heritage.
