The Agenda for the hearing on 5 September is available at www.beacons-npa.gov.uk/planning/strategyandpolicy
The process of preparing the Local Development Plan is laid out by the Welsh Government. The National Park Authority consulted extensively on earlier drafts of the Plan before submitting it to the Inspector. Prior to March 2009 the Authority consulting on the Preferred Strategy, it engaged Planning Aid Wales to hold 12 Community Council training events on the process and supported the community councils in consulting with their own communities. This process fed into the Deposit Local Development Plan which itself was published for consultation in January 2011. The Examination stage began in November 2011 and changes were made to the Plan as a result. The current Examination Hearing Sessions stage is likely to be the final stage ahead of the plan being judged on its soundness and adopted.
In April 2013 the Inspector required the Authority to add a further 200 houses to their proposals on housing provision and she offered a strong steer on the sites where she considered development acceptable. In an Extraordinary General Meeting on 11 June 2103 the National Park Authority members debated the sites the Inspector had indicated as possible for further development. Six of those sites have now been included in the Authority’s proposals and the Authority consulted on those in June and July 2013 and they will be discussed at the public hearing on 5 September.
