During the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend from Friday 2nd April to Monday 5th April, a group called Dragon Makers – made up of over 30 Welsh art and crafts businesses – will exhibit and sell their work at a showcase exhibition at the National Park Visitor Centre. The event will include free demonstrations, workshops, an Easter egg trail, face painting and lots more to see, do and buy. Fund raising activities will take place throughout the four days in support of the Welsh Air Ambulance who will also be in attendance with their ever popular mock helicopter where children can pose for photographs.
In the lead up to the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend – from Saturday 27th March until Sunday 11th April – the National Park Visitor Centre is also hosting a two-week long unique exhibition of Welsh arts and crafts which will run alongside the Dragon Makers’ Festival. During the fortnight more than 12 Welsh arts and craft makers from Bannau Brycheiniog National Park will exhibit and sell their work which will include leather, textiles, pewter, jewellery, photography, knitwear, paintings, wood turning and greetings cards – admission is free.
Welcoming the two events, Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority Member Champion for the National Park Visitor Centres, Cllr Gareth Ratcliffe said the arts and crafts exhibitions not only provided an opportunity for local people and visitors to view and purchase a range of top quality Welsh arts and crafts produce but also gave local artists across the National Park a platform to exhibit their creative talents and work.
He said: “Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority is delighted to host these two events during the Easter holiday period which showcases and supports so many talented local artists. Fun-filled, entertaining and creative – it’s the perfect place to bring your family and have a wonderful day out amidst spectacular scenery. And what an excellent opportunity to buy an Easter present for your loved ones and to see the wide range of locally produced goods that are available.”
With its idyllic setting overlooking Pen y Fan, the National Park Visitor Centre and tearoom is open daily from 9:30am – 5pm, and admission is free. For further information please call the National Park Visitor Centre on 01874 623 366 or email visitor.centre@breconbeacons.org
