Bannau Brycheiniog National Park invites the public to become ambassadors

National Park launches three new learning modules

The Bannau Brycheiniog National Park has launched three new modules of its new online ambassador course.

The course is designed to give tourism providers a greater insight into the breath-taking landscape of the Bannau Brycheiniog. The course is free to access and currently features modules covering an Introduction to the Bannau Brycheiniog, A Sense of Place, and People of the Past. With this latest release, three more modules have been added to the collection: Dark Skies, Fforest Fawr Geopark and an Introduction to Biodiversity, Ecosystems and Ecology.

The courses are designed to deepen knowledge of the landscape and to inspire people to conserve and enhance the Park. It aims to give tourism providers the knowledge to speak about the Bannau Brycheiniog with confidence and the tools to sustainably care for the National Park.

Carol Williams, Tourism Officer for the National Park, said, “We’re delighted to launch these additional modules. The latest modules will give participants a greater understanding of geology, of how to reduce light pollution, and about the natural world on our doorstep. So far 104 people have completed our first three modules, earning them a bronze ambassador award. Completing the additional three modules will allow people to earn a silver award. The online course isn’t just restricted to tourism providers, either. Anyone with an interest in the Bannau Brycheiniog can get involved.”

The ambassador course is free to complete. After passing a short quiz, participants are offered a certificate. Passing three modules will earn a bronze award, six modules will earn a silver and 10 will earn a gold.

Rebecca Aslett, Marketing Manager for Call of the Wild, found the ambassador course very helpful. She said, “I highly recommend the Bannau Brycheiniog Ambassador Course. When I started working for Call of the Wild, offering experiential leadership and development programmes in the Bannau Brycheiniog, I found that it gave me a great head start. Having such a good knowledge of the National Park, I found it much easier to both write and talk about the local area with our clients. It was simple to do online and great quality content, I thoroughly recommend for all businesses operating in and around the National Park.”

A further four units are in development and will be released in the coming months. To sign up to the course, please visit: https://www.ambassador.wales/
