John Cook’s former position was that of Acting CEO and Director of Countryside for the Park Authority. Prior to joining the National Park, John was Managing Director for the agri-environmental consultancy, ADAS Wales.
Commenting on his appointment, John Cook said: “I’m very excited and proud to be appointed as the CEO for the National Park. The role offers a unique opportunity to help this Authority face the challenges of today and tomorrow and to re-enforce our core objectives and commitment to improve our services to those who work, enjoy and live in our National Park. I’d like to thank everyone for their support during my time as Acting CEO and I look forward to working with and learning from the exceptional staff and members of this Authority, who continue to inspire me with their drive and commitment.”
Mrs Mary Taylor, Chairman of the Park Authority said: “On behalf of Members and staff, I am delighted to announce the appointment of John Cook as the National Park’s new CEO with immediate effect. Firstly, I would like to commend him for his great contribution and determination as Acting CEO and Director of Countryside, working tirelessly under significant pressure for the last six months to bring about a new sense of openness and optimism to the way we work. Under his leadership he has implemented a strong new approach to the way the National Park is led and has refocused attention on the needs of our communities.
“He brings to the role considerable hands-on countryside and land management experience and I am confident that his proven track record of leadership and vision for the Park’s future will deliver the goals and objectives that our communities deserve and expect from us.”
