New Chair Elected to Lead Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority

Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority held its Annual General Meeting on Friday 27th June at which Cllr Gareth Ratcliffe (Powys County Council) was elected unopposed as Chair for the coming year. This marks his second time in the role. Dr Liz Bickerton (Welsh Government appointee) was appointed Deputy Chair.

Cllr Gareth Ratcliffe said:
“I’m honoured to return as Chair and grateful for the confidence placed in me to undertake this role once again. I want to thank outgoing chair Aled Edwards for his steady leadership during challenging times. I’m looking forward to working closely with Liz and Catherine to serve the Park’s communities and build on the progress we’ve made so far in delivering Dyfodol y Bannau”

Dr Liz Bickerton said:

“I’m honoured to be elected as Deputy Chair and will bring my extensive experience of agricultural policy, government rural support programmes and managing funding programmes, many with a community focus to bear as we take our work forward over the coming year. I also look forward to continuing to contribute to the important work of the Usk Catchment Partnership and the Wye Nutrient Management Board as we tackle the vital issue of catchment and river health’

Other appointments made at the AGM included Mr Steve Rayner as Chair of Planning, with Cllr Huw Williams as Deputy. Outgoing Chair of the Planning Committee Julian Stedman was recognised for his service and invaluable input to the planning service over his 7 years in the chair.

Their leadership and support is vital as we build on Dyfodol y Bannau, build a Park where nature and communities can thrive together, and continue our transition towards being a mission-led organisation”
