Waterfall Country Visitor Survey

The Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority and Ystradfellte and Pontneddfechan Community Council are asking anyone who has visited, are visiting or are a resident of Waterfall Country to complete a new visitor survey. The survey, being undertaken over the next year, will look at building on current work to alleviate visitor pressures and allow for better understanding of the needs and requirements of both those who visit and live in the area.

Cardiff based research company, Strategic Research and Insight (SR&I), were successful in gaining the contract to undertake the year-long survey as they have a strong track record and good local knowledge. They will be starting the surveying on the ground this Bank Holiday weekend and are also launching an online survey for people to complete after their visit. Interviewers from SR&I who will be in and around the busy car parks in Waterfall Country, will be clearly identifiable and will be ensuring that they work within Covid safety guidelines. The Authority and Council are also asking local accommodation and businesses providers to promote the survey to their customers, as gathering data from as wide a sector of the public as possible is essential.

Stephanie Evans, Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority Transition Director said,
“Waterfall Country has become one of our most popular places to visit in the National Park and has seen record visitors in recent years. We have been working in partnership to help relieve some of the parking and visitor pressures. The information gathered from this new survey will help identify what needs to happen next to ensure Waterfall Country has a sustainable future that benefits residents and visitors alike.”

Llian Cornish, Chair, Ystradfellte and Pontneddfechan Community Council added,
“The visitor survey will be invaluable to steer the future projects of the new community organisation Waterfall Country Cymru CIO. This organisation’s objectives are to identify projects that will be of benefit to residents and how to keep any visitor spend in the area to be invested back into the community.”

If you have visited, or are visiting Waterfall Country between April 2021 and March 2022, or are a resident of the area, please complete the Waterfall Country Visitor Survey 2021-22 either in person or online after at http://bit.ly/waterfallcountry.
