Bannau Brycheiniog National Park has announced the launch of the Gold Award for its Ambassador Scheme.

The Gold Award marks a milestone for the region’s tourism industry. The award is a prestigious recognition for individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to promoting the region’s history, environment and tourism offerings.

After completing three modules, participants are awarded a bronze award, after six they are awarded silver, and now with nine modules available to complete, participants can earn the highest honour: a gold award. These modules cover a wide range of topics related to the National Park, including history, geography, wildlife, arts and culture, and environmental practices.

Noel Clawson, the first recipient of the Bannau Brycheiniog Ambassador Gold Award, runs South Wales Tours. As a seasoned guide, Noel has found the ambassador awards invaluable in adding additional depth to his visitor experiences.

Noel said, “Receiving the Bannau Brycheiniog Ambassador Gold award is a real honour for me. Bannau Brycheiniog National Park holds a special place in my heart, and I am grateful for the opportunity to deepen my understanding of this remarkable destination through the Ambassador program. I look forward to continuing my work as an advocate for the region and sharing everything I’ve learned with visitors.”

Carol Williams is Sustainable Tourism Officer for the National Park. She said, “To date 205 have completed their bronze award and 116 have completed their silver award. We’ve had some wonderful feedback. It’s fantastic to see that so many people share our passion for the stories of this beautiful landscape.”

Bannau Brycheiniog continuously seeks to provide individuals with the tools they need to become effective ambassadors for the National Park. The fully accessible online modules cater to individuals from across the UK, ensuring that everyone can be a part of the Park’s rich legacy.
